A part of healing is forgiveness—not just asking for it but extending it to others.
For some, this is the hardest thing to do.
Some people even take unforgiveness to the grave.
But God never intended for us to walk in unforgiveness. Over and over again, scripture reminds us that if we want to be forgiven, we must forgive others.
That means setting pride aside and saying, “I forgive you.”
Unforgiveness is a Heavy Burden
I’ve been there before. Holding onto unforgiveness hardens your heart.
It makes it difficult to love and trust people.
It fills you with anger and frustration.
It causes you to take your pain out on people who had nothing to do with it.
Yesterday, we talked about how crying is a release.
Unforgiveness is another weight that must be released.
If you hold onto it, it festers.
It binds you.
It steals your peace.
It keeps you from receiving the fullness of God’s love.
Breaking Free from Unforgiveness
As I grew spiritually, I realized I couldn’t keep carrying that weight.
I had to let it go.
Colossians 3:13 reminds us: “Put up with each other, and forgive anyone who does you wrong, just as Christ has forgiven you.” Then verse 14 says, love is what holds everything together.
The moment you start forgiving, you begin to feel the difference:
The anger starts falling off.
The frustration begins to fade.
The weight lifts.
That thing that was eating you up inside no longer has power over you.
You are free.
The Process Takes Time, but It’s Worth It
Let’s be real—some wounds are deeper than others. Some take years to process. But the goal is to start.
Letting go doesn’t mean what happened was okay. It means you refuse to let it control you any longer.
